Owls of Arizona – magnificent nighttime predators of the skies
August 12, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Owls are amazing creatures that have specialized adaptations associated with vision and hearing, and enhanced hunting skills that make them efficient nighttime predators. Arizona has one of the most diverse populations of owls, ranging in size from the smallest elf owl to the largest great horned owl, utilizing habitats throughout Arizona from the low elevation arid deserts to the high elevation montane forests.
This presentation will give you a better understanding and increased appreciation of Arizona’s owls and their role in the environment.
There will be a flight demonstration by Garfunkel, Land On Sky’s Eurasian Eagle Owl, who has a wingspan of over 6 feet!
