From the Forest Floor and More – Jon Orona

Jon Orona will discuss some of the amazing forests, woodlands, grasslands and other ecosystems found in the White Mountains. Additionally he will tell stories and showcase some of his photographs over the years working as a Forester and natural resource professional in Arizona.

Jon has a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in Wildlife Ecology and Management. He has been employed with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) for 6 years, where he has worked in the Urban & Community Forestry, Forest Health, Invasive Plants, Forest Stewardship, and the Healthy Forest Initiative Programs. Jon currently serves as the Northeast District Forester with DFFM, where he leads a team of Foresters in the planning and implementation of fuels reduction, community protection, watershed, and landscape scale forest restoration projects.
