October 7, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
- Madeline Burton: Maddie holds a bachelors in Natural Resource and Environmental Conservation from Mississippi State University. She joined the DFFM team in May as the Urban Forestry Specialist, and has a background as the Urban Forester for the City of Tyler, Texas. In addition to overseeing the Magnificent Tree Program, she works alongside DFFM staff in grant administration, and serves as an urban forestry resource across the State to provide technical and educational support. So far Maddie has only found one Champion tree, in her home state of Texas, but is determined to find another in Arizona!
- Jon Orona: Jon has a bachelors of science in Forestry from Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in Wildlife Ecology and Management. He has been employed with DFFM for 6 years where he has worked in the Urban & Community Forestry, Forest Health, Invasive Plants, Forest Stewardship, and the Healthy Forest Initiative Programs. He has visited 70+ AZ Magnificent Trees across Arizona during his time as the AZ Magnificent Trees Coordinator. As District Forester, Jon oversees the planning and compliance related work for fuels reduction, watershed, and landscape scale forest restoration projects but still enjoys finding and visiting Champion, Heritage, and Witness Trees with his family.
